Beach parasailing in Kovalam
The government’s first parasailing project has begun on the aptly named Hawa Beach in Kovalam. Offered by Bond Adventures, it will allow travellers to enjoy winch parasailing, where you can take off and land on a speedboat without having to aim for the beach. This will be available from October to May every year.
Scuba diving is already popular in Kovalam, which is known for its calming Malabar scenery. The addition of parasailing hopes to rebrand the coastal city as a future water sports destination. Hawa Beach is around 30 minutes from Trivandrum Airport.

The Vellar Tourist Village has opened as a charming settlement to spotlight a genuine piece of Kerala. Hosting 28 artisan studios with 50-plus kinds of handicrafts, the village has warm rustic architecture, an art gallery, an emporium, and food and beverage options to keep travellers busy on a day trip.

Sign up for the two-day, 40-kilometre kayak expedition, and you’ll get to see the best natural sites and monuments on National Waterway 3, which coincides with the ancient Muziris trail.
Muziris, interestingly, was one of India’s earliest and most famous port cities. Its exact location was lost to time, but your journey will retrace part of its historic trade route.

The annual event also raises massive pollution awareness, as participants clean NW-3 on their journey. Nights are for rest and bonding, with folk music and cultural events.
Registrations are open on the official website of Jellyfish Watersports. The event begins with an orientation on February 11, with the actual journey starting the next day from Kottappuram Market Jetty in Kodungallur. The jetty is 45 minutes from Kochi Airport.
Getting to Trivandrum & Kochi
Travellers can hop onto direct flights from major Indian metros to both these locations. Nonstop connections to Trivandrum (some daily) are available from Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai, while cities like Lucknow and Ahmedabad have connecting options.
